Our services
Providing high-impact educational frameworks and tools to unlock sustainable capability across the Northern Cape.
Core Competency
MATHEMATICS
The Douglas SEDC Maths programme is divided into two parts: the In-school programme (ISSP) and the afternoon programme (ASSP). For the ISSP, we send our teacher assistants (Monday – Wednesday) to specific schools to assist Grade 4 – 9 Maths teachers. Our goal is to reduce the pupil-to-teacher ratio and offer individualized attention.
On Thursdays and Fridays, we run our interactive PlayMaths games in Grade 1 – 3 classes. Meanwhile, our afternoon center sessions focus on Grade 7–12 learners using the digital Olico Maths system alongside curated curriculum syllabus checkpoints and targeted milestone competitions.
Experiential Learning
SCIENCE
Learning science solely from textbooks can be challenging. The Douglas SEDC Mobile Science Lab utilizes specialized MyLab Science kits to bring a fully equipped lab directly into project schools, enabling Grade 4 to 12 learners to conduct hands-on, practical experiments.
We run dedicated guidance pipelines for participants entering the prestigious Eskom EXPO for Young Scientists, reinforcing formal theoretical work through critical investigative techniques and safe scientific experimentation.
4IR Skills
Robotics & Coding
Launched via UNISA MOOCs training, our robotics stream has grown to field 14 separate competitive lines across the region. We participate actively within the FIRST Lego League circuit and proudly anchor the internationally recognized Coding4Mandela Tournament locally each year.
Through partnerships featuring UNICEF Sustainable Development Goal challenges and modular Max-IQ micro-electronics tracking tools, learners build microchips designed to solve problems right within the local community.
Psychosocial Coaching
Career Guidance
We provide continuous, specialized evaluation modules including critical subject choices in Grade 9, comprehensive psychometric profiles in Grade 10 and 11, and intensive administration pipelines for National Benchmark Testing (NBT) alongside university registration applications in Grade 12.
We actively incorporate qualified Trauma Incident Reduction Therapy tools directly inside our facility footprint to help team members and community figures smoothly navigate environmental pressures safely.
Fundamental Literacy
Reading & Literacy Support
Our specialized reading team utilizes the computer-based Stimulus Maxima system to elevate foundational English and Afrikaans capabilities directly inside six regional primary institutions. We lock our core focus on high-frequency parameters, structural vocabulary mechanics, language development, and general textual comprehension.
